¿Qué es?
En esta segunda iteración del Congreso "Antropología en sus límites", retomamos la noción del "tercer espacio" como un espacio híbrido y generativo que nos permite imaginar productivamente las relaciones antropológicas en el siglo XXI. En el espíritu del tercer lugar, invitamos a las antropólogas, los antropólogos y otros a reflexionar sobre los espacios en los cuales trabajan y los diálogos que establecen con otros actores, otras disciplinas, otros discursos y otras prácticas.
¿Qué formas de comunicación y modos de acción se posibilitan a partir de estos diálogos? ¿Hay sitios en que la comunicación se fragmenta? ¿Qué nuevas alianzas se necesitan para enfrentar los retos de lo contemporáneo? ¿Qué metodologías y epistemologías emergen de la confrontación de nuevas y viejas estructuras de saber para apoyarnos en estos retos? Aunque sin limitarse a estos temas, las ponencias aceptadas podrían versar sobre las interacciones entre la Antropología, las artes y las ciencias, narrativas alrededor de investigaciones interdisciplinarias o proyectos aplicados, asuntos de traducción, reflexiones sobre los conflictos que surgen entre investigadores y sus interlocutores en torno a la representación, o la necesidad de proponer metodologías innovadoras.
Los idiomas oficiales del congreso son español e inglés. El congreso se llevará a cabo en la Universidad Iberoamericana en la Ciudad de México durante tres días consecutivos, y contempla nueve mesas de trabajo, dos talleres y tres conferencistas magistrales. Nuestro objetivo es que el conjunto de asistentes participe en un espacio único de intercambio y discusión, con la finalidad de mapear posibles direcciones futuras en el estudio de la cultura contemporánea. Por ende, solicitamos que las y los participantes asistan a todas las presentaciones.
What is it?
In this second iteration of the Congress "Anthropology at its Borders", we take up the notion of the "third space" as a hybrid, generative space that allows us to productively imagine anthropology's relationships in the twenty first century. In the spirit of the third space, we invite anthropologists and others to reflect on the spaces in which they work and the dialogues they establish with other actors, other disciplines, other discourses and other practices.
What kinds of communication and action are made possible in these dialogues? Are there sites where communication breaks down? What kinds of new alliances are needed to deal with the challenges of the contemporary? What kinds of methods and epistemologies emerge from the critical encounter of new and old forms of knowledge that might help us to rise to those challenges? Accepted papers might address-although they are not limited to-the interactions between anthropology and the arts or sciences, narratives about interdisciplinary research or applied projects, issues of translation, reflections about the conflicts that arise between researchers and their interlocutors over representation, or the need for innovative methodological proposals.
Official languages for the Congress are English and Spanish. The conference will take place at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, during three consecutive days, with nine sessions, two workshops and three keynote talks. Our objective is for all participants to engage in a single space of open dialogue and discussion, in order to map out possible future directions in the study of contemporary culture. Consequently, we ask all participants to attend all presentations.
